Sam Allison - Film Composer
Sam Allison, multi-instrumentalist has worked with many directors and continues to cultivate creative relationships with them. Allison’s ability to manipulate musical texture and communicate ideas through sound has ensured repeat appointments with directors and animators. Sam has just finished scoring the restoration of the 1965 film production of “The Visit” for director Doug Williams,(Fraggle Rock) and has joined long-time animation cohort Barney Wornoff, (SuperPopularShow) on the CTV documentary production, “Lost in Canada” for director Mike Johnson,(My Student Loan). In the new year, Sam will compose the music for the Rogers Television production “Career Compass”, also with director Doug Williams
(Mr. Dress-Up).

2005-"The Maximum Marmora Phenomenon”. An enviro-doc by director Tim Wilson that features a score of synthesizers and slide-banjo.

2004-"The SuperPopularShow”. An animated television show that features short sketch comedy between animated segments. Working alongside Canadian talents such as Barney Wornoff, Rex Murphy and Joe Flaherty, Sam wrote themes, humorous songs and dramatic score for action-packed animation using vibraphones, xylophones, banjos, percussion and horns.

2002- "The Jazzman”. A short indie comedy which featured a jazz score of vibraphone, upright bass, whistling and percussion. Director Toby Proctor.

2001-"Catmandu”. A short indie comedy featuring a score of horns, mallets and strings. Director Josh Peace.

2006-“Lost in Canada”, Sam teamed up with animator Barney Wornoff to work on the CTV mockumentary Lost in Canada. For this project Allison created a “ragtime/cartoon” instrumental theme, using banjo, guitar, washboard, xylophone and bass harmonica.

2005-“The Visit”, the restoration of a long-lost film adaptation of the German play featured a score of strings, mallet percussion and timpani. Director Doug Williams.

2005-“Sno-Bo”, an animated short directed by New York animator Vera Brosgol. This short featured a simple banjo score and won Nelvana’s “Best Animated Short Award”

2005-Human Resources Development Canada educational video, “Mr. Cebe”. Background score for animated characters narrative. Director Mike Johnson.
